Fleece Preparation Before and After Shearing

July 21 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm NZST

The Mid-Canterbury branch of the BCSBA is hosting an open day with the theme of preparing your fleeces before and after shearing, and how to look after your precious fleeces once shorn

  • Crutching your sheep and keeping them clean all year round.
  • Avoiding shed stain by yarding your sheep the day before shedding
  • Separate individual fleeces after shearing, using newspaper, frost cloth or sheets
  • Learn how to skirt, weigh, and clean your fleeces ready for showing, selling or your own crafting.

Our members have a wealth of knowledge, and will offer hands-on teaching. Find out what a judge or customer is looking for.

You may bring up to two of your own up to fleeces to be shown how to handle them.
